For those who have used the AIR pump delete pulley, I'd like to know how well it works(ed) for you. My smog pump seized up and needs to go away. I don't think I want to put another one on the engine since it's kinda worthless.
just keep in mind that when you d/c the pump....you're gonna HAVE to d/c the cats sooner or later. No fresh air to the cats means they don;t heat up as well, so they plug up sooner.

Yea vetteoz is correct. I ordered my delete pully from corvette central. But u can get one from tpis too. The same thing. I'm not gonna lie the bolts that it came with, I didn't feel comfortable with, seemed to fragile so I got a stronger a set of bolts. And what I did with the belts were, I called napa asked them to drop me off 3 sets of belts. I put em on and which ever one felt best I used it. Any delete kit comes with "shim's" or spacers and they are useful.
How are we defining "worked well for you"? It removes a bunch of AIR crap and unless the bearing seizes up, it should give you miles and miles of service.
As to having to replace the cats, didn't some cars come WITHOUT AIR but with a cat? Should be ok, I think.
From what I see, you can make a bracket and pulley for about $35...
The pulley is just a replacement pulley for the tensioner...I've bought one before.
The bracket is plain bar stock aluminum...probably the most expensive part of the assy. Spacers are available in a variety of thickness and length in the "drawers" at Ace or Home Depot..or even Lowes. The correct lenght/strength bolt right next to that drawer. Cross brace...drilled to mate the main bracket. Bolt with nylon nut. In fact, you can get everything thats needed at the hardware store except the pulley...
They get $135-150 for these "bolt on kits" ??? damn......
You could make it yourself but if you get the spacing wrong, it could shred your belt. Still, you have to ask yourself, "What is my time worth?". IF you have access to a shop and can cut metal and have time to burn on your hands, go for it. I wouldn't want to chance being stranded on the road simply because I cheaped out and got aluminum that wasn't up to snuff or whatever just to save $50-$80.
I pulled mine, and beat the guts out of it with a screwdriver, and a BFH. It took a while to get all out, but I didnt have to spend any money on a delete kit, or a new belt......I also pulled my cat, and hammered the guts out of it too. h
well, since I'm retired from engineering and equipment, I'm not terribly concerned about a FU design...jeeze, look at what they sell. Thats stupid simple. I'm not thinking about making one to kill some time...I might think about making a few hundred tho...

Thats called a "challenge" on my planet. If you believe the first one that came from the mfg of these kits was dead nuts spot on right, you'd be mistaken...THAT is why they come with "shims".
Spacers are the easy part.
I've already built HD accessory support brackets to replace the thin wall tubular supports that crack and let your expensive accessory brackets (PS pump, alt, a/c compressor, tensioner etc) break that are made of aluminum that are hard to find new, so its not a big deal.
The "mark-up" on this stuff is what has my attention...it IS no more than $35-$40 worth of stuff assembled and bolted together. Good margins for resale.
I would have done a "mock-up" from card-board or pressed paper to cut & fit exactly then found the pieces in metal to be used as a template or jig.. once thats done, the parts can be cut out 1 after another...I'd use aluminum, polish it to match other brackets, stainless bolts and move on....
I'll never get around to it this year....too many other projects on my table, just sayin, its an easy DIY project.
How are you guys passing inspection with the pump deleted? The cats gone or hollowed out will fail you for sure here in Texas.
Many of these guys have never seen a smog inspection...
I've had to deal with Tx, Ca, and Az.
Now, here in Texass....because mines 25, They don;t look at the smog...just a walk around for safety insp and you get your sticker.
25 = classic status in the Lone Scar state.
