I bought a wheel/tire combo for my 94 that has the TPMS system on it. My new wheels and tires are ready to go so I'm not really interested in dismounting the tires to change everything over. Can I disable the system on the car without tearing apart a bunch of stuff? Was hoping to do this the right way as opposed to just yanking the TPMS bulb out of its socket.

The concensus of opinion is that anything newer than '91 needs to have the receiver disabled or remove light bulb/s. '91 is debated! From time to time they all are debated. I don't believe it's any eisier to remove the coonnector to the receiver in a '94 or to remove bulbs. With the 2nd SIR I don't know if the receiver was moved or not. I might try to look.
Where is this receiver located? I've only had my car for a week so I'm just beginning to learn where stuff is.
It isn't easily accesibile as a matter of fact it appears to have been made more difficult to access. It appears the bulb removal procedure is the only way. It's behind and slightly to the right of the DIC. The connector has been moved to the firewall side of the receiver it appears.
Have you a Helm FSM yet? You might want to buy one! Nothing other than the Helm product.

So,same situation 1989 with "check LTPWS" illuminated. Can it ever work again for a reasonable price? Is the problem typically due to failed wheel sensors? My dash is currently COMPLETELY dismantled and what should i do WRT the reciever? Or should i just remove the bulbs, very easy too
I just installed after market rims on my 89 and i did not realize the sensors were installed with a band around the rim with sensor attached. The tire installer said the after market rims did not have a groove like the factory rims and there would be no way to get the tire on with the large sensor. They figured it out and was able to keep the sensors on the new rims.
It sounds like this is not the case for the '94, but on my '90 when all 4 sensors were removed (ie I had my track wheels/tires on with no sensors) I never got the LTPWS light on the dash. It only came on if the sensors were there, and I had low pressure.

'90 if the sensors are left off there's NO LIGHT - that's generally an assumed. I don't recall ever seeing anything different posted. The '91 like I mentioned earlier is debated, some insist there's no light others mention lights. I've no first hand knowledge on a '91.
"DucXL" - I don't know about the '89 "first handed" either but if you were interested in eliminating them and the dash is disassembled I locate the receiver and just disable it. I've no idea where it is. Does your FSM display it?
