Default C4, Lt1, 1995, sputtering, jerking...

Hi,
I have a c4, LT1, 1995, with 44,000 miles. After not driving for a long time, my car works restless, twitching, jerking, sometimes you can hear shooting from the muffler and sometimes the car stops working. After the intensity of the gas and drove the car at high speeds about a mile, the problems go away and the car continues to operate normally. What could be the problem?

Here in Croatia, unfortunately we do not have qualified service for the Corvette so I can not read the codes.

You happen to have an iPhone? Highly recommend the GoPoint cable and app for code scanning.

For actual condition you are having, could be as easy as a clogging fuel filter all the way up to the opti dying. You "should" get a check engine light with that kind of condition if it's the opti though. Could even have water in the tank. Can you get a can of Seafoam Motor Treatment to dump in the gas tank?

The problem is that you drive the car once or twice a month.

If your tank is NOT full when you park it, you can get some condensation in the gas tank; and the less gas you have when you park the car, the more condensation you could end up with. The water sinks to the bottom of the tank and (so I've been told) the fuel pump sends it with the fuel through the system first. As a result......the engine runs poorly until the water gets pumped out the tank and burned off by the engine.

Try taking the car out a bit more; at least one day each weekend......just for a twenty mile drive or so (enjoy it a little ) and then refill the gas tank after every drive. I'd bet this solves your issue.

An interesting thought, I'll try to fill the tank every time before parking in the garage. Thank you!
