Default corvette engine kit with a Jasper engine

Has anyone had dealing with Jasper engines? Is there service and product just as good as described? Is their engine kit worthwhile purchasing or should I price it out separtely? The kit contains, h20 pump, all belts, clamps, hoses, thermostat, plugs cap rotor wires air oil & fuel filters.
Thanks in advace Mike

Never heard of them nor have i heard of an engine kit such as you describe. Those are all maintenance parts. Price out what they would cost in total at a local parts store like NAPA and some online vendors like Summit of Jegs.

Back in 1995, I was really short on time. I had Jasper rebuild a Chrysler 251 industrial 6 cyl for my Bombardier Tracked Skidder.
They did a super job, no issues whatsoever. The engine is still purring now and working many days each month.

If I was short on time, I would have no problems having Jasper do a engine for me. However, I prefer to do them myself.

Back in 95, Jasper had drop off points. I dropped my engine off in New Jersey. It went to Jasper in Indiana on their truck at no charge and return tot he drop off point at no charge. I dont know if they still do that today.

Jasper is one of the better engine re-manufactures....

ATK is another re-manufacture that has an OK reputation and they are known for street type hi-performance engines.

That said they all do this kind of work the cheapest way possible and the comeback rate from the best places is about 20%.

I think you would be better off getting an engine from a local machine shop. At least if you have a problem you can talk to them in person. Your profile dosen't say where you are located but if you tell us, a member might be able to recommend a local shop that has done good work for them.

I put a Jasper LT1 in my 95. The engine was outstanding. I got the kit also. However I paid a local shop to put it in, your experience may vary.

Jasper does excellent work. Our shop has used them for engines and transmissions for years. Jasper also has a performance line of engines too. Getting an install kit may or may not be worth the extra cost. Find out what the extra cost is with the engine and then do some research on prices for the same components at local parts stores or try Rock Auto.

Jasper offers a great warranty too. It's something like 3 years and 100K miles. That sort of warranty is not what a local machine shop would provide. And with Jasper, you only have to wait a day or two, where a machine shop could take a couple weeks.
