My 88 has had this problem for awhile and I can't figure it out.
everytime I start it, you can hear the motor turning over... but
then it after like a couple of seconds it truns on. Anyone have this
issue? what should I try doing? any solutions would help out
greatly...
I would look at the fuel pump relay it might be bad. If the fuel pump relay is bad the fuel pump will not be energized until the oil pressure builds up enough to trigger the oil pressure switch to energize the FP. (the reason for the long turn over until it starts) :flag
A cold start problem is likely the fuel pump relay as it primes the fuel rail for 2sec before you crank the engine.
A warm start problem is likely a leaking injector. Recently Rich at Cruzin Performance (link on my site) reconditioned my injectors, including the cold start injector and my warm start problem is gone.
Hard start all the time might be the regulator or fuel pump check valve not holding pressure.
Run fuel pressure & leakage tests to see what's up.
