Oh well, 4 out of 5 isn't too bad. To make you feel better, I raced for years with my 383 which had a gm 400 cast crank, prepped and nitrided. A thousand low 11 second runs shifting at 6200 with never a problem. The crank still runs today in a buddy's car.
..... The troops are ready ... time to gap the rings ... using a piston to square the ring in the bore ... electric ring gapper , what a time saver ... Thanks PDQUIK95 ........ plugging up those nasty holes with aluminum slugs ........

This will be the third 400 based engine I've built for my own self with the OEM cast crank ... never broke a thing , I just keep wearing the blocks out ... my machinist knows how to grind / polish til the bearing clearance is right ..... its a bit different when I build for a customer ... all forged steel innards ... supplemental life insurance ... mostly to protect the motor from the customer ...............
