I just purchased a 1994 C4 and the door lock and security remote had been lost a few years ago. I went to the Chevy dealer to see about getting a replacement remote and they wanted $200 for the remote and another $100 to program it. Is there any aftermarket remotes that will work on a vette? How hard is it to program a remote?
You can get a new factory remote from ebay for $130 or so. The instructions to program it are in the owners manual, do it yourself.
Here's a tip, before you buy a remote, go through the remote programming procedure right up until it says to bring the remote in range. If everything up to that point doesn't happen just like it says, don't buy the remote, that would mean you have a problem in the car and the remote can't be programmed without fixing something.
Oh, a couple more things. Any year C4 remote will work on any 93-96 C4, ut there are two types. One for coupes and one for verts. Be sure and order the right one.
Also, the system doesn't work like most remote systems, read up in the manual ahead of time so you understand how it is supossed to work.
