Thanks to everyone who recommended 1.6RR over 1.5RR in an earlier post. I notice a definite increase in acceleration and power compared to the stock 1.5 stamped rockers. Now as soon as I buy a helmet, it's off to the track to see what she can do.
What brand of rockers did you get? Did you change valve springs?
Did you put in hardened pushrods? I am planning on putting them in my 91 and keep everything else stock. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks
I used Proform Roller Rockers, self-aligning #66915, www.proformparts.com. They were $130 less than Crane but they are made in China. Summit hardened pushrods and new stock springs. You may not need self aligning ones because I think your engine uses guideplates. While you're in there, you may want to change the valve seals too.
I went to there site they don't have a price list. Who did you get them from and how much?
I have 1.6 roller rockers on the stock heads but I'm changing to the Vortec heads and you need self-alining for them, also I can't tell from the pic but are they just roller tip or are they roller fulcrum also?
Thanks.
Dave

They are full rollers. I ordered them thru www.summitracing.com. Get the part number from Proform then enter it in the manufacture's part number search at Summit. They will have to special order it but it only took 2 weeks.

...Are there a lot of small block Chevys running around China???...
...I don't know; it just seemed funny to me...
...Reminded me of that James Bond movie where they all have boat motors made from auto engines and you dip the prop in the water to propel it...Good flic!... :yesnod:

Probably not, but there probably isnt too many DVD players, computers, electronics, etc... there for general comsumption either, but we all buy them here :D
I take it you didn't have any clearance problems with you valve covers since you didn't mention any. Cool. I put some 1.6RR on the SB400ci4blt. that's in my boat, and had to run the tall valve covers for clearance, those are World Prod. heads on that motor. Oh well, it was well worth the cost.

I did have to remove the drip tabs and I compressed the internal bellows a little.
I'm particulary interested in this topic, since I'm thinking switching to 1.6's would be a convientient thing to do while my heads are off anyway during my upcomming head gasket replacement....
One thing i've not been able to get a definate answer on is whether my valve covers would have to be modified... aluminum heads and 1.5 RR's came on my car from the factory... i think... so doesn't that mean I don't have the drip tabs???...
Yes, I have stock valve covers... the magnesium??... i think.... one's that turn all brown and crappy looking and have to be painted ... ha!!!... (did that the LAST time the head gasket blew)...
Wish I had taken a closer look at them when they were off, but I forgot and have been trying to find someone who know for sure ever since... Thanks!!!! Now that I know it can be done on a budget, I'll go ahead and have them done this time around.... I just wanted to make sure of what all was going to be involved...
