Has anybody had issues with interior lighting? My 89 has started playing up in that with the ignition on and the car is running, turning on the headlights the “lights on” chime sounds and doesn’t stop until the headlights are switched off. The chime will sound with the ignition off as it should. So night driving is not very pleasant at the moment.
Thank you Theadmiral94. I will give that a try. Please excuse my ignorance but what is a FSM? Service manual? I have a good one on CD and there are heaps of electrical diagrams.
The chime sounds when the headlights are on and the ignition is off. It sounds like there is something wrong with the switch or the connection between the ignition switch and the chime module.
The chime module has three functions. Another one is it sounds when the door is opened while the key is in the ignition. You can pull the key part way out of the ignition switch to turn this off.
I'm suffering from brain fade and can't remember what the third function is...

The chime will also come on to remind you of turn signal on while driving straight for a certain amount of time.
Agent86 hit the nail on the head.... Gauges fuse was blown. Who would have thought this can cause so much grief LOL. I was thinking that my wiring was shot because other things stopped working. I was also thinking that because mine is a RHD conversion that the wiring needed TLC. I checked the wiring diagram for the gauges fuse and this one powers a lot of things like map reading lights, climate control module, vanity lights and a heap of other stuff too. Certainly put a smile on my face with this being something as simple as a fuse. Thanks for all your help.
