My 86 has no horn function. My son pulled and tested the relay, and that functions properly. He also jumped the 12v feed wire in the relay plug to the green horn wire and no sound, we looked but didn't see any horns under the hood, we read that they are located one on each side of the radiator, but we don't see them, so they are either missing or are hidden? And we also checked and there is no signal coming from the steering column to the relay plug. So my questions are:
We're are the horns located exactly?
What are the wire color(s) at the horn in case mine are missing so I can connected new horns to the factory wiring.
How do I get the steering wheel or horn button off to check the horn connection in there?
We also read that the turn signal stalk has something to do with the signal for the horn in some way? What do I need to know for that?
Thanks guys. We found a broken bracket for the horn on the passenger side, but only found a single wire for the horn, not a 2 wire plug like in the pics above. We couldn't find any evidence of one on the drivers side, no bracket or anywhere that looked like there was a bracket at any point, and not wire(s) not used. I ended up buying a set of chrome air horns for it and I am just going to use them and go from there, once they are installed I can go back to the relay and track down any other issues I might have in the horn circuit.
Yeah mine did too, but had a bad connection or something between the dr side and passenger side. Also the horn button didn't work, the wire in the steering wheel sent the signal to the relay but the horn button wasnt getting a ground to send through, So I ended up soldering a wire to the back of the horn button to ground and now it sends the signal to the relay. And I installed a set of chrome wolo air horns on the passenger side and ran a wire to connect to the drivers side oem wire. Everything works good now so I can finally get it inspected. I know I have a lot of wiring and such to clean up but one step at a time...
