I have an intermittent tick in my 1994 coupe that sounds like it is coming from the transmission or drive train but it only happens in the afternoon when it is hot and goes away if I hold the clutch in. Sometimes it will stop or become reduced if I turn the AC off. I have also noticed that I seem to lose a bit of power when it is hot.
I am new to corvettes, this is my first. I have a 75 Z28 with a 350 but they are entirely different animals.

These run hot and DO run better at lower temps but too low and they suffer in other ways. Until its modded or tuned for other temps/conditions its fine and doing what its designed to do.

Thing about noise descriptions is that what one guys hears as a tic will be a knock to the next guy...
The location gives a better clue. Knowing its a stick and the clutch in clue tells me its likely the pilot bearing showing its age.
Temp...yeah, we'd love to see them run at 180 like the old chevys used to. Thing is, these are NOT old chevys. These are new technology that needs the heat to meet certain performance requirements. These higher temps actually save the engine and add to the longevity. They DO run better at 195 than they do at 225... but that's just not real unless the engine has been re-tuned and modded for than and needs to run at a lower temp. There are sacrifices to be made though...if its stock, just maintain the cooling system hoses and buy a new radiator some day and it will serve you well for a very long time.
Yes I agree with you, and I had considered that. But I have never seen it where it only happens when its hot. Today due to some weather coming through it was a bit cooler so I was running at about 200 degrees instead of the usual 230 or so and it never started doing it. I was thinking of changing out my train oil and see what happens.
