Been pulling out what's left of the hair on my head troubleshooting a stall/won't start scenerio. I've had the car run great for a few miles and die. Turns over but won't start. A few days later I go out there and it starts. Today I was ready to read the codes. Course it started. I raced it up a few times and the car died. Won't start. I am getting a code 61 from the ECM but for the life of me I can't find much on this nor can I find any vacuum mechanism on the passenger side?
Do the symptoms even match a code 61?
BTW I have a VATS bypass in it now so that shouldn't be the issue.
BTW 1993 Anniv Edition. 93k. Never seen a winter. Comes with lots of goodies like an anniv shirt, watch, poster, shop manual, orig invoice laminated, two orig owners manuals, car cover, Corsa stainless exhaust and zr1 wheels. 6 speed. Nice car but I need to get it running and sell it. Too many toys.

Reason: adding year make and model
So I was looking at the zr1 codes. Off to a great start. Thanks for the correction.
I'll try cleaning the two I have but it doesn't make sense to me that it would be a VATS issue if I have the Eckler's VATS bypass unit installed. I did do it myself and it didn't change the symptoms.
There is no ecm code 61.
The explaination for a CCM code 61 was posted.
That probably occured if you messed with the bypass and
tried to start the car.
That code would prevent the starter from engaging.
Have you checked fuel pressure?
Have you pulled the fuel pressure regulator vacumm hose
and verified there is no gas in the hose?
When cranking have you verified there is spark to the plugs
when it doesn't start?
I jumped pins A & B. It did exactly what I expected. It blinked the 12's and then 61. A&B jumped should be reading ECM codes not CCM. CCM I would have been jumping A & H no?
The car started today (again) and ran for 10 mins. It does this almost every time I go out to try it a few days later. I'll check the fuel pressure but it's so sporadic it really doens't make much sense.

Problem is for a 1993 lt1 vin P there is no ECM code 61.
You must be counting the pulses incorrectly.
If you were to short pin A to Pin G turn the ignition On
The codes will be displayed in the dash LCD.
Module 1 CCM
Module 4 ECM
so the connector on my car only has one row of female pins so I'm lost. To follow A&G connections A would be upper right and G would be the lower row left pin.

I don't think you are following what I am trying to explain. My connector only has one row of open female plugs. The bottom row is plugged up. So there is no way to jump A&G. I have 6 open pins on the top row only.
3 possible explainations.
1) You have an aftermarket wiring harness.
2) Bubba has worked on the car
3) Some one has removed the factory OBD 1 cover plug and
reinstalled it so the lower row of pins are blocked.
That plug has been used by my mechanic before to read the diags and it worked fine. I don't know why anyone would take the original out and go through the pain of putting something in that was not original but who knows. Guess I need to get it towed to him.
