Now trying to go full speed ahead on datalogging, so i can get the tune dialed in. TP5 connects up fine, but i get the flashing red/blue light at bottom of screen, going from connection to data error. This happens about once a second, so all scan data is not much useful.
Now i did put in that "pause before resend" command in the Mode1 dump request macro, but didnt seem to help much. i first tried 20msec, then 50. I read somewhere here about quieting the CCM on a '90, and that would clean up the datastream.
Datamaster.....that is interesting. What do you mean by 20 logs for free? Only 20 scans using it, then gotta purchase it? or 20 different vehicle types? I like the BLM averaging features for sure.....
Tomorrow i am going to use my old school scan tool from EASE diagnostics. it does min/max and avg for BLMs and INTs.....easy to use. Just dont like the mode it puts the ECM in. And some incorrect data comes out....
after 20 logs you buy it, or use a different pc. always use blm, and never intergrator. I explain the process pretty good in my page. Good luck
OK, i got it. i understand the process fine. Not my first time tuning a TPI. One last question, will the software work with the Moates ALDL interface that i use? It does look inticing....i just like to make work with what i got.....
Well that is a good thing, but how is the connection and reliability of the data coming out? I suppose i could try it for free, and get few logs in....and yes i did look at your tips page....does look very sweet.
If you are still getting that 'glitch' when scanning using TunerPro RT - check your acquisition definition file. If the baud rate is 8192 then open Commands and then look for "Transmit Data Reply". Set the "Body Size" to be Payload offset + Payload size + 1. This usually fixes the data glitch problem.
If your baud rate is 160 or 4800 (Early Pin E AlDL connections), then this fix does not apply.

Well i definitely have the 8192 baud rate. Looked in commands in the acq def ADX editor, and did not find that "transmit data reply" command. I have 3 Mode 1 ALDL dump requests, and 3 clear trouble codes commands.
Now in the Mode 1 ALDL Dump Request Reply section, i see the other entries you mention. I have 66, 3, and 63 for those values. All in dec values. Is this the section that you mean?
I am using the 1227730_8D.adx version.
The .ADX file is not my work but one of my acquired acquisition files.
It will work without giving you that every second glitch.
I think this .ADX file also has an updated dash screen function in it.
Got the file. Big download, lots of defs in that folder. Pulled in that definition to TP. There was several dashboards in there, all good and usefull. i did pull in the one i just copied over from another definition.
So i will try this new acq def soon. Thanks for all yer help!
Now for the good news. Was able to try the new data acq def tonight on my C4, just an idle test in garage. TP5 connected right up and was rock solid!! SOOOOOO HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY. did about 11 min data log recording. So everythig is all good now. I will run car tomorrow and get some road scan data. Time for VE table tuning!
Thanks again so much to phonedog!
Ok, so I don't expect that you will be needing another one, but still cool to hear you got it figured out.[/QUOTE]
Not likely but i will think of you! Then again my Moates cable could fail on me. I had a burner go on me a few months ago, but they replaced it for free.
Now made 2 datalogs today, TP5 working well. More questions have come up. Can i send you a PM?
I've got my cable and laptop loaned to a guy in Seattle, so I just bought one of his cables for my netbook. I help a lot of people with tuning, so if this cable works good I recommend you in the future.
Mike,
Did you try Datamaster? If you answer the questions on my required information page I'll post up a base file you may like? Glad to hear you're at least getting data. Scott

No, not yet, but i am looking at it closely. I did the see the info page. So you are the owner of Datamaster?
TunerPro has a histogram feature as well, but havent figure out how to get data into it.

No, I'm just some guy who spent $1000 on programming that ran like crap, so I started doing it myself. I've learned a lot in the last 10 years, but now that I'm home I have more time.
If TunerPro can give you fuel averages that's great. The averages make tuning way easier. I've just been using Datamaster for a long time. My licensed version is on a P333 with 98 megs of RAM and Win 98. Can't wait to get the USB cable.

Me, Datamaster owner? I wish.
OK, i understand. I started with PC scan tool by EASE in 98, on my L98 camaro. Been doing chips on that since 2001. This tool can do min/max/avg, and is easy to use. It was connecting ok to my C4, but put things in different modes, and i got some bad data. Plus no support and no options with it. Then this week it did not connect at all.
I do have TP-RT5 working now. I just like to make use of what i got. At least today TP has decent support, but is a little tricky to use.
Man that is an old PC, time fer upgrade! I use a old Dell Latitude myself, but has Win XP on it, not real fast either.
