I have seen the short throw kits for doug nash 4+3 speeds.By decreasing the length of the shift arms they shorten the length the shifter has to travel but because your losing leverage it must take more effort? Is the increased effort to shift worth the shortened travel and quicker shifts?

I had the short throw links on my 86 roadster for 20+ years without ANY problems or difficulties. Other than making the shifter movement distance shorter, there was no recognizable difference between the OEM shifter links and the short-throw links.
Any increase is hardly noticeable I wont own a stick without a short throw. If yours is like the muncie make sure the bushings are good and linkage adjusted mint. Youll love it.
I had the "short throw" when I still had the 4+3. Easy to install. You do have to re-align the shifter though. It's easier than the FSM says, you don't to use an alignment pin. Just take off the console lid and sight down the shifter base. You can see the alignment notches. Make your adjustments on the linkage (back under the car). After a couple of tries (auto gynmnastics) it will be sight-aligned
