Just had a new D36 HD chunk with 3.73's installed in my 87 with 383 auto. I can confirm at 80 the RPM's are higher than the stock 2.73 I had, but the car is completely different now, for the better.
Before the gearing was too tall so at low speeds 35 or so I couldn't leave it in over drive as it would lug down, now with the 3.73's I can put it OD and drive like I use to, no issue with lugging down at lower speeds, and acceleration is a lot of fun.
