I roadrace my "91" C4 and my good friend races his "87". Is there software and hardware still around so we can read our chips and reburn as necessary????
Yep! I got most of my tuning parts from Moates.net and for software you can use TunerPro R/T for free. The nicest is to get an emulator (Moates Ostrich) so you can make real time changes without burning chips. I found one used on Ebay but that was lucky.
I paid about $100 for my EPROM programmer from a place in Canada. I have heard recently that Moates is selling one for less. I don't remember if it was $69 or $89.
You'll need some EPROMs. I bought 5 from a vendor on eBay and then found out the seller is only about 5 miles from me.
You will also need a way to erase the EPROMs. Some people put them out in the sun, but that takes quite a while. I bought a small florescent light that is supposed to mount under a cabinet and bought a UV tube online to use in it. I already have a timer from my photography darkroom. I looked into UV LEDs, but they operate at the wrong wavelength and won't work.
which takes a EEPROM ( Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory ) like a 27SF512 which you
can electronically erase and re-program with a chip burner direct from your laptop
I gave up ultraviolet light years ago, and strictly use the 27SF512. You have to assign a hex start address of C000 for mass air, and 8000 for speed density.
