How hard would it be to put an LT1 in my L98?
I have a 91 and am considering an engine\tranny\harness purchase from a 93. I know the LT1 needs the ECM, but what else?
Traction control? What parts does it entail?
Reverse cooling? Will my radiator work?
Optispark? Comes with engine- but what else is attached if anything?
Would it be better to do this or just rebuild the L98?
Trying to get 350-400 Hp
For all of the work this will take, why not just bolt on some Fast Burn heads and have an LT1 manifold modified to work on the GenI motors? Add a HOT CAM and you have an LT1 without the hassle of an optispark.
I would use the 91 computer. You can hook the optispark up just by cross referencing the wiring diagrams from a 93 and your 91. All of your accesories will bolt to the engine just like they did on your 91. You'll have some issues with the air pump, throttle body, and throttle cables, but nothing too serious. Just fittment issues.
I personally would not do this unless I needed a new engine and got this for next to nothing. The 91 can be built up to great performance without a lot of engineering and fabricating. But its your project. Have fun. :seeya
