Default surge at idle

what size hammer should i use the big big one or little one, not sure where to start checking for the cause of this..

help please...

Not Sure If You Can Set Timing On The Lt1s, But That's Where I Would Check First. My Timing Was Too Advanced And Dropping It Back Down Fixed The Surge. Also, Make Sure You Didn't Cross Any Wires.

How many miles? Have you checked for codes with a scanner? Were there any problems before you changed opti, wires and plugs? More information is needed. If you are at or near 100K you may need front (pre-cat) oxygen sensors, could be IAC or throttle position sensor among many other things.

just turned 50,000 miles and all other work has been done about 4 months ago, so dont think crossed wires would be it. but will scan in the morning for any codes if any show up..

thanks for the input.

And the plugs. When you replaced the ignition wires, which is the proper name for spark plug wires, you may have crossed them. That means, you may have put a few on the wrong spark plug.

I think he is saying this is a new problem, and the car ran fine after the work done on it, correct me if I am misunderstanding. Mike use the little hammer it doesn't sound to serious.

Clean the IAC and the throttle body? It fixed mine and my wife's Escalade with a 6.0. Hers had funk on the throttle body plate interfering with proper airflow. The IAC kept opening and closing trying to properly meter the air
