If I get on my '85 when the tank is low it will try to shut down. There are mod fixes but just keep it above a 1/4 tank.

There's also no ABS. Just make sure you're pointing straight during hard acceleration.

What! You bought a new car and the seller didn't even fill it up.

Funny! maybe in 1985 but in $3.50+/gallon times that would be more than the down payment!!

Could be worse. When I bought mine, without an owners manual I didn't find the gas gauge so I went for the first gas station I could find to fill it up. Took better than 18.5 gal to fill it. It's a wonder it even started but it did and went over 10 miles to the station.

It was via a car auction, but they could have at least left some gas in the tank.

How old are your tires? When I got my '87 the tires were about 14 years old & it didn't take much to break 'em loose.

You may want to try adding a set of these shim plates on the C Beam assy. These cars suffer from not be able to swat and go in a straight line sometimes. this is the url http://www.zfdoc.com/c4beamplate.htm they are inexpensive but maynot completely remove the fish tailing affect but it should be noticable.
I put a set on mine and that helped some but when you stomp on it froma stop it pulls slightly to the left until the tires grip.
