I am going to replace my shocks all the way around with Non Electronic shocks . Any tips ??? Pros / Cons ?
The shocks I am replacing them with say they are like the car stuck in a combination mode of touring and sport .
only reason I am replacing them is because the back are leaking and for whatever reason will not go down??? and the front are worn out , so I just want to do away with the old system , plus the OE replacement shocks are like 120 each , that being said, not knowing if there is a further issue with the electronics , I would just rather lose it . Couldn't find anything in the forms here about it ? Any advice would be helpful
I researched this for a solid month before I came to the conclusion that adjustable Koni's were the way to go. I just got the fronts in (rears have been in - fronts were backordered), but it seems that the wallowing up and down over every bump is gone. Instead, I get a firm/muted response over bumps and the car stays settled - as it should.
I went with the Bilstein several years ago. The original (Bilstein) shocks were not bad, just extremely stiff like auto X shocks. ABS activated over small speed bumps. The heavy duty Bilstein gave a much better ride, softer, stays on ground more and was the improvement I was looking for.
Can't say I made the best decision, but better than it was. There are several good shocks out there.
I went with the QA-1 single adjustable shocks. The Koni's have to be removed to make an adjustment. These have a **** down low that is easy to reach any time you want to make a change. I run mine on level three of twelve and have a really smooth ride. When I want to hit the turns harder I set the **** up a couple of clicks. This takes less then ninety seconds and I'm good to go.
