Are you talking about the lights that are part of the dash lights that come on when the headlights are turned on?

Does the climate control, radio and antenna work OK?

Have you checked any fuses to see of one for instrument lights opened?
Not sure but I think fuse #4 is for instrument lights on a 90.

yep...

IIRC, the center display backlighting is piggy-backed off of the light switch...marker/parking light circuit. I'll try to look at my drawings tomorrow to see which wire BUT I've been told that this is often a sign of a dead or dying headlight switch. Might want to ck the courtesy fuse just for grins...Again, I'll have to look at the cartoon to see for sure.

That does make sense, because the lights are working now and have been working for awhile. But I will still check the light switch out.
