Where in the world is this timer. I'm writing this because of all the confusion and lack of information about this interior light timer. I have an 87 Corvette convertible. I read that this timer could cause the interior lights not to work and the door switches for the convertible hatch also to not work. This was exactly my problem. There were a lot of different answers as to the timer location. After dismantling numerous locations I finally found it. At least on my model it was under the right side ( passenger ) panel that covers the bottom of the dash board were the passengers feet are. Disconnect the battery. Remove the screws for the kick panel, disconnect the wire for the interior light and remove the panel. Then you will see the ECM (Computer for the car). Remove the 2 ECM plugs. Remove the 2 bolts that hold the the ECM into it's cradle. Remove ECM. Now look between the cradle and the carpeted cover that is under the dash board. Looking way up you will see a black plastic timer attached to a large wire loom, with what appears to be paper tape. Cut the tape and start pulling. It takes allot of pulling to get it down. My timer had the plastic melted by the inside heat sink. It was another chore to unplug it due to the melting. My intention was to replace the timer, until I saw that it was melted. I thought I would first try to combine the 3 white wires as was suggested. I just removed one white terminal from the plug and stuck it into the other terminal with the other two white wires still in the plug. Taped up the plug, put the the ECM back in and reconnected the battery. To my amazement not only did the interior lights come on but the door switches for the roof hatch ( which I desperately needed) also worked. Yes I know I could use the button in the center console, but it's difficult to press the button and raise the hatch at the same time. The way I did it I could always add the timer later. No cut wires. Actually I like seeing the lights going off immediately when I close the door. I'm also hopeful that my mysterious battery drain also disappears. To be determined. So there it is. I hope this saves someone some time out of their busy schedule.
