Re: intermittent rough running/idle (chuck91)
I can't remember which engine you have so the following may not apply.
My 88 (L98) had a stumble and bad idle until I replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and coil. I also took off the throttle body and cleaned it completely. Put it all back together and now it runs better than ever and real smooth at idle.
You might want to start at the throttle body - take it off and clean it up real good.
Check that the iac and minimum idle is set correctly along with tps voltages. You can find instructions in the tech section. You might also want to see if you maf sensor is working correctly. Unplug it, and if it runs better, that is probably your problem. Sometimes just tapping it while it is plugged in can tell you also, but sometimes neither of these methods will work if the problem is very intermittent.
good luck
