Default 1993 opti

Pulled off the cap from the 1993 opti and marked the rotor position. Removed the unit.

Dang, the shaft is like, froze up almost, harder to turn than a pencil sharpener with a big fat pencil that's never been sharpened, compared to the new one that spins freely.

I notice a locator tab on the drive gear, and tried to install the old opti with rotor in different position, it doesn't seem to want to go in, only one rotor location, so its idiot-proof, right ?

Any chance a binding opti shaft can throw cam timing off ? I doubt it seriously, but want to ask to be sure!!

the new MSD 8381 opti I have sitting here does not have the locator tab on the drive gear, so I have to pull the cap and put the rotor where I think it needs to go. Scary, don't want to be off by a tooth, dangit....

Never mind. The splines aren't cut deep enough at the index point to install, and the rotor position appears to be off from the index point w/respect to the stock unit.
