I just went to go check my oil level and I noticed the dip stick was pushed out a little. I pushed it into place along with the tube and when I pulled it out it was really hard to get out. Then I found this. I also had to get a pair of vice grips on the bracket part of the dipstick tube to get it out. It must have broke off inside the engine.
Anyone ever seen this before? Is it going to be harmful to my engine?
An '85 OE stick that's been replaced with a 14094758 - it's fit is '85 through '88 only with the correct tube. It is of course NLA so it might be tough to locate anything other than a used one. Either number should do. Did you recover the entire dipstick or is there a portion of it missing. I can't tell from the snapshots.
The Tube. A Day Ago It sounded Like A Baseball Card In The Spokes Of A Bicycle When I Revved The Engine. It No Longer Does That And The Tip broke Off Inside.
