PROBLEM finally solved..... So this little stumbling problem has been so troublesome especially after all the work that has been done to the 85. The upside is that everything that runs this motor is new now. Yesterday I replaced the injectors again....... I bought the first set off of ebay and thought that maybe they could have been my problem.
So this morning I got up and unplugged the egr valve started the car, let it warm up and guess what? problem gone. Plugged the valve back up and the problem returned. I drove the car to work this morning and it is running like it should. So what is this EGR thing for again? I think it might actually be the device that controls it...... I had vacuum tested the egr before and it seemed to be fine. For now, I am just going to leave it be and try to enjoy driving the car.

You Unplugged The Egr Valve? Which Part? The Vacuum Hose Or The Solenoid? Your Solenoid May Be stuck Open Or You Could Have A Short Somewhere powering Up The Solenoid. Or The ECM Could Be Bad.

I pulled off the vacuum line to the EGR and capped vacuum hose side..... Power wire to egr still hooked up. All I know is that car runs fine now with no stumble, no codes. I have been chasing this issue since April. I will put some more miles on it to see if there is a change.

The EGR valve recirulates a portion of exhust gas to help reduce the combustion temperatures in the cylinders , which in turn reduces NOx emissions being handled in your cat. IIRC, the vacuum line opens the EGR valve under normal operating conditions while the ECM inhibits recirculation via the solenoid closing the vacuum line under hard acceleration or idle conditions. If stuck open you will usually have a rough idle and/or hesitation or pinging under WOT. Depenging on what state you're in, you may not pass emission testing for NOx with the system disabled.

The ECM will lean out the Air/Fuel mixture when it's time for an EGR cycle, you will probably get some roughness and possibly a misfire when this happens. If you want to full delete EGR you once again need a tune.
Now you know that your EGR solenoid is open, so you need to figure out what is causing it to open. Is it the computer? Is it a short somewhere? Is there mechanical damage to the solenoid? Etc. Etc.
I'd first start with seeing if there is power and ground to the solenoid. Then I'd trace that signal back to the ECM with the controller wire pin disconnected. A short will travel to all ends of the wire.
