Im sure this topic is beat to death but i didnt find my answer in the search. Im also deleting my EGR system because of frustration with that crossover tube constantly leaking and after countless times replacing the smog pump because it squeals like a pig. but mostly the air pipe leaking. My question is i have have full length headers (TPIS) with an EGR pipe fitting that lets me connect that crossover pipe to the manifold. I have removed the pipe, plugged up the hole in the headers with a 1/4 threaded fitting (TPIS had pre threaded the hole when i bought it new) and used a block off plate that i bought online to the cover the hole left by removing pipe from manifold. Will removing this pipe cause me to have idle issues at startup? I removed the intake to redo a CHINA WALL leak in the rear and for the love of humanity i cant get it to idle right. It starts up but idles crappy till it dies. I will check the new fuel pump, TDC and do all the other dianostic stuff but will removing that pipe cause issues? I will get the EGR deleted off my chip when i send it back to fastchips.

Is the EGR valve still in place? If not, then you need to block the holes. One of them connects to the plenum.

Did you remove the EGR solenoid? If so, then the vacuum fitting on the bottom of the throttle body needs to be blocked/plugged closed.

A rough idle is almost always some kind of vacuum leak.
