Default 85 4+3 engine removal

If anyone has removed their engine from their 85 4+3, did you also drop the trans or just support it? Did you have to remove the oil pan? Tx

I dropped the trans first and then pulled the engine. If you leave the hood on, there's not enough room to pull them together.

I actually went in and out with the hood still on. Although I must admit the replacement took some effort. Mine was the 4+3 tranny, yours?

I pulled tranny and motor on my 85 with a zf swap hood was still on, actually much easier when it comes to re installing it. You don't have to hassle alining them under the car and getting it out was a peice of cake just make sure everything is disconnected.

I'm really surprised you guys had the room with the trans on and the hood on. Even without the trans it was a bit tricky to get mine back in without the trans (4+3). Putting the trans on later wasn't a big deal (just need to make sure you aligned the clutch right).

I pulled the engine with the bell housing and left the trans in place.
