I left a light on during the night so the battery died. I have been charging it and now had to jump it form my other car and now all it wants to do it crank but won't run. wtf is this? I need this car for work. my security light is on.
If all looks normal and the security light is on that sounds like a VATS event. Pull the key out and leave it alone for good 5 minutes and then try it again. I would also clean the key pellet. VATS usually resets in less time but I would give it max time in this situation.
If that does not work remove the battery cable for a minute and then reconnect. Something electrically might have hung and won't reset normally. I have seen other cars where charging the battery from where it was dead, things don’t work properly. When a full 12 volts is applied, the modules initialize properly. I would also give it a few minutes just in case VATS is in a resetting mode.
thanks. well i got it to start after several attempts. what it did was continuously turn over and then eventually cranked to a real low idle and then i had to rev it up. my key is clean so how would I clean the ignition just incase?
So if it was cranking all the time then it was not VATS. It's really hard to say why it would not start and run. I could give you 10 suggestions but at this point they would just be random guesses.
Check the vacuum line from the FPR to make sure it does not have fuel in it.
Checking fuel pressure and spark are just two basics.
well it was prob vats. see I had it charged initially but I turned the key and it did nothing till I eventually got it to turn over. sorry for the confusion.
