Do any member know where I can purchase a tool for balancing my t/bodies on my 84 Corvette. The t/bodies have been bored and shafts rebushed.I have tried with a home made manometer buthave had no luck.DC have been going to make one but after several e-mails I have not received a reply. Is it possible to get one from else where in the USA,as nobody here in Australia is interested
Cheers
..... Back in the day , I had a Triumph TR6 ... tossed the Strombergs and put some SU's on it ... dual ... I used a length of hose as a stethoscope of sorts , listening at the inlet of each carb and adjusting them to get the same hissing sound from each , worked nicely ... one of the cheapest tools I had ..........

Don't need the manometer and it probably won't work anyway as boring likely removed the ported vacuum port.
Set them either a/ a feeler gauge or the way I used to do it is to adjust it so that they both close/bind in the bores at the same time...then set the minimum air.

If the ported vacuum port has been removed...using a manometer is useless.
I have one and use it on the Cross-fire engines and it is GREAT...so precise in adjusting.
Adjusting the bored out throttle bodies is quite fun. I have done a few and do not like it when a upgrade is done and an important part of the part is removed.

It's needed if you have a drivability issue; high idle, off idle hesitation, etc.
But it's probably needed b/c you just bored the TB's and installed new plates, right? So nothing is the same anymore.
1. Back off the throttle stop until one of the throttle plates just barely starts to stick in the bore.
2.Then use the screw that adjusts the balance between the two, to adjust the second one so that it too, is just barely sticking in the bore.
Now you know, both throttles are darn close to the same angle and are closing off the bores pretty equally.
3. Adjust the throttle stop using the standard "minimum air" adjustment -400 RPM with the IAC ports blocked off or the IAC motors bottomed out.
I havent done any of that to the tb`s on my 84, yet at least. I read over and over 52mm or whatever they are is plenty.
I do once in a while get where the car falls flat on its face when I hit the gas from a dead stop. Once or twice a week it happens totally unpredictable.

I like your thinking I had a 79 z28 once that would leave two long straight black stripes I dont think the 84 will ever do that, but then again that Camaro wasnt good for over 75 or 80. It had a 350 with 462 heads and an RV cam in it. The only person I knew who wasnt afraid to ride in it with me was my 70 year old mom lol
