Default 1987 corvette c4 procharge: Need help

i installed a pro charger supercharger on my 1987 corvette works great but its not breathing enough. i think is putting pressure on the crank case leading to oil leaks. any ideas on how to improve air flow. plus i need a complete installatio guide for the unit. PLEASE HELP

Hi
Are you running an intercooler? or is it going direct from the blower to the inlet manifold?
I know with my experience you need a large intercooler almost the size of the radiator, small intercoolers will restrict the flow and the car will hit a wall at rather low rpm.

Was it a procharger kit? a kit should be a tried and proven setup.
If you are running without an intercooler you will need to retard the ignition and have a water/methanol injection system.

The blower pulley size determines boost levels, a smaller blower pulley will increse boost.

Get a boost gauge and check the boost from a blower should be 6 or 8 psi depending on the kit, then check at the throttlebody.
I have a fitting on my vette at the throttlebody.
To comply with EPA requirements here in Australia i had to use the original air cleaner, ducting to the aircleaner had a noticable drop in hp. A blower will blow well but hates to suck

Are you using the mass airflow? i have it on the leaving side of the intercooler, running a basicly stock tune with a vortech FMU fuel management thingie that injcreases fuel pressure per psi boost.
It does that by restricting the fuel return to the tank, i have a 6 or 8 psi fuel pressure increase per psi boost to keep the air fuel ratio correct. I have an inline high volume fuel pump and she has run great the eight or so years she has been blown.

Yes an old engine with blowby will have the crankcase pressurised by the blowby if the rings dont seal, i have an enclosed breather cap with a hose going to an oil catch can. That solved most of the oil leak problems, i also removed the dipstick and have a plug over that as well.

I ended up getting a new engine because of the blowby and oil leaks, she still ran great but at 170,000 miles the rings could not keep the blowby in check.

Unbelievable that you have to worry about emissions in australia!!

Thankful none of that here where i live in ohio.

To the op: make sure you put a check valve on your pcv system to prevent pressurizing the crankcase during boost.

Also, i run an oil catch can on my pcv to keep intake/heads clean.

Finally.....lots of issues with the procharger c4 kit. should have went with a kit from greg@blowerworks. He knows how to fix the bugs.

Biggest prob is belt slip at the crank pulley due to inadequete belt wrap.
