I'm sure it can be done but don't know how difficult.
First off get a copy of the GM Shop Manual set for your Vette. The electrical suppliment will give you a very good idea of what's included in both system as well as where the wires and sensors are located.
If you go ahead with the project you might contact Contemporary Corvette (link on my site) to see about a used electronic unit as they have a large Vette bone yard; they also have an extensive line of new Corvette parts.
