I have verified the 10chp gain by trap speed increase of 1mph, corrected for DA.

In 2000 I immediately removed the "frisbee" from my prior '88 and three years ago removed it from this '88 and never had even a squeal from the belt.

The '88 & '89 "frisbee" is a uniform thickness 10lb disk so thick lock washers are advised under the bolt heads. The '90 & '91 units are much thinner with mass concentrated in the outer rim so washers may not be needed.
Thanks for the info.
10 CHP seems like a lot for such a light disk...

Apparently GM re-engineered it from the 10lb boat anchor of the '88 & '89 to the lighter version for '90. Rest assured though that the rotary inertia of both designes is the same as this is what stabilizes the system when the A/C compressor kicks on/off.
And it is this rotary inertia that sucks up the 10chp that came from the new (in '88) D-port heads.

I removed mine when the engine was being rebuilt and was stripped to the bare block. Zero issues. As far as it being a benefit goes, taking a 10lb steel plate off the water pump pulley is a no brainer. I can remember all of us LAUGHING at this metal plate when we were passing it around.

I've had mine off my 91 since 2001 or so with no ill effects. I have no ideas of power gains, if any, although being a 91 I had the smaller, lighter disc.

I removed that weight 13 years ago, with noticing no difference in HP or belt squeal.
There was the reason but my car at no concerns.

Default Issues with removing the frisbee??

I read up that not having the Fresbee, the water pump pulley may not have the damping effect that was intended to smooth out those load changes from the A/C compressor cycling. This could cause more vibration to be passed through the drivetrain and into the cabin.

I feel a lot of vibrations in my shift ****, but only when I turn my AC on and go above 3k RPMs.

Could this be my problem?
