I just replaced the opti and water pump and I'm in the process of filling the cooling system. The problem is the fill tank is full and there is no fluid coming out of the bleed valve. The coolent is lowering maybe an 1/8" an hour. It is going on 2.5 hours and I'm losing my patience!! WHat is going on here? It seems like there is a lot of air trapped and it isn't releasing. What do I do now? I filled up the system with probably one and a half jugs of prestone. I don't know off the top of my head how much is in one. They are probably a gallon or so. Any suggestions?
Check owner manual for capacity of the cooling system. Might try running the motor up to let the new pump get to work circulating what's in there all the way to 160 or 180+ degrees depending on what thermostat you have in the water pump (160 or 180). maybe let the tstat open and the whole system get circulating. Then shut down and let her sit overnight and once cooled down tomorrow try the air bleed procedure from scratch again. Might just be because the pump needs to run and the tstat needs to open and move some coolant around. maybe. not sure. may not hurt to try.
When I refilled mine after replacing the radiator and all hoses, I started the car and just filled it though the tank by the passenger side door. Took about 20 minutes. At the very end I bleed the top of the system through the bleed screw. BTW, a 95 has only one bleed screw.
Re: HELP!!! In garage, need help quick (89 Paul in Cal)
(turn heater on full blast to 90* also while car is on)
Hmmm... I had not thought of the heater core holding air. Good point. I may even need to do this on my '95 since putting in the 160 tstat Friday evening. Thanks, Paul.

When I changed the radiator in my '92 I hit all the bleed sites and turned on the heater, but still had air in the system. Just removed the small line going from the top passenger side of the radiator. That did the trick for me.

If you hit all the bleed sites how do you know if there is still air in the system?

If you only have one bleed screw, this should work (it did for me).
