Default smoke on start up??

hey guys, On our 87 vette, we had to replace the intake gasket about 2 yrs ago, and before that, smoke would come out on the start up, but that was because of the coolant... but now, its blue smoke (oil) on the startup, and its beggining to get worse and worse... I read somewhere on here that it might be the valve stem seals, or valve seals?? someone please help me out here! how much would the valve seals, or valve stem seals cost? our vette currently has 59,xxx miles and is all original. Thanks,
James

It most deffentally is the valve stem seals. THere are a couple ways to do this procedure. You can remove the heads and do a complete velve job while your at it or you can use commpressed air in the chambers to keep the valves up while changing the seals. I haven't done mine yet but I will do it via the first method as I want to redo my heads or replace them. If you can do it your self it will cost you less than $100 for the seals, tools, and beer to keep you sane. If someone else does it for you I am guess ing it would be around the $500 vacinity. I am sure someone who has had it done will give you there quote though.
