Depending on what cam and supporting parts you are adding I would think you could get the 350 HP out of a stock 350 bottom end.

yeah,.I would think that 350 is realistic. You might want to talk to Jon at FIC to see if a step up one size in injectors is worth while and you will definately need a "tune" for these upgrades. The stock tune has wide margins for enhancements BUT you don;t get the best out of the upgrades. A new tune will help maximize the new parts.

sounds good. as for cam. havent even looked. I know i still want to be able to jump in and go where ever i want to go.. i was going to swap a 5.3 with a cam. but it seems more like the motor just wants some up grades.. if i go a little large on cam . i know im going to have the trans rebuilt so i will get a stall to compensate to idle..

Yes. For the RIGHT reason !

so many guys just go run out and grab a 3500 stall converter 'cause that's what someone told them they needed. That's total BUBBA building ! DO it RIGHT to get the result you WANT !

Your stock stall is very LOW because its got the TCC to manage the tranny so its got the "stick" feel. The OD is the key....its designed to be soft and manageable while in OD even in city driving, but if you drive in 3rd the TCC makes it lock up sooner and feel more like a stick trans. It stays in lock-up even in deceleration until its down to about 1100 rpm OR you touch the brake.....whichever comes first.

if you get a lumpy cam that won't idle at less than 1000 rpm, you'll have to get a stall in the 2500 range so it won't grab the engine too soon and 'stall' the engine....IIRC, the stock stall speed is something like 1600? 1800 mebbe...I forget, but, its too low for a high idle. You want the engine to have the chance to develop usable power BEFORE you apply the load (lock-up) and possibly drag it down. Bog it. Get some idle of your power band too, so you can get a converter that will work well with the power band of the engine as well as the low end idle. And remember the TCC in the 700r4 vette trans. THAT makes a difference too.

Have fun, now you're screwing with the science of engine building !
