94 C4 Optispark Distributor Issue

94 C4 Optispark Distributor Issue
Good Afternoon All:
SO!! i just got the vette back on the road about 2 months ago and i had the optispark distributor replaced.
I was bringing the vette to the mechanic yesterday to have the hood latches replaced...got two blocks down the street and the car died.
- it cranks but it would not stay started
- got it towed to mechanic and it cranked, kicked over and started
- it ran for a few seconds and then died....upon this happening the car started freaking out. Mechanic initially thought it was the onboard computer...turns out it was the optispark distributor (just installed a month ago) they deemed it defective and they have to re-install a new one (luckily covered under warranty)
- I have heard alot of negative things about the optispark...why would this one crap out after only a month of being installed. I would like to add that this was straight from GM...not an aftermarket. this WORRIES ME!!!!
