Yesterday my 1992 Vette with 67,000 miles on the odometer left me at the side of the road for the first time. Car had been running great. I had been driving for several hours with no indication of performance problems. Suddenly the rpm's dropped, engine started to misfire and then quit altogether and would not restart. After about a 30 minute cool down I could restart the engine but once under load it would again misfire and die. 4,000 miles ago I replaced the ECM with a rebuilt unit from Corvette Central - I am wondering if this could be an ECM problem again. Or could it be the Optispark (original)? Any help would be much appreciated.
You're going to have to figure out if it is a spark related problem or a fuel problem. It's possible it could be an ICM or even a fuel pump.
Any opinion would be a guess at this time. See if you can measure fuel pressure or check for spark. You can also check for codes and see if any are there. Make sure you can hear the 2 second prime from the pump when you turn the key to ON.
Checking for injector pulses would be on the list but fuel pressure and spark would be first on my list.
Today I was able to determine that the problem is definitely temperature related - car runs fine until reaching operating temp. Does that change your suggestions? Thanks

My ICM did the same thing. When the car was cold she ran great. I could almost time the exact minute she would shut off in the drive way.
It was 7 minutes, then she stalled, almost like you shut off the key.
Ordered a new ICM, 110 bucks fixed the issue.
This was after I replaced the Fuel Pump, and the Opti-Spark due to other related issues.
NO...his suggestions are VALID...SO ...get it to die...then...check and see if you have PROPER fuel pressure...and that it holds. If that is OK. Then check to see if you have spark on at least TWO spark plug wires. Then I would also check to see if your injectors are pulsing also.
