Hello, I have an 84 Vette that's not trying to start for me. I believe it's the door lock / security feature that's giving me this trouble. Would you all happen to know a trick to get this baby started again? Unlocking the doors from the outside with the key is very difficult. I believe I disabled the security system by pulling the red fuse marked '10' from behind the dash - the security light no longer blinks but I'm not sure that means it's off.
All the lights and electronics will engage but no crank or anything.
Just in case it's the battery - 600CCA is what's installed. Go bigger?

I'd start by putting the fuse back and disconnecting the battery for awhile. Make sure the car is unlocked.
Don't lock the car using the power locks. That activates the security

I usually undo the red battery key - is that sufficient or do I need to take the cables off?
My apologies, it's an aftermarket ignition disruption switch that completes the circuit to the battery.
Ps. The voltage reader is saying anywhere between 10 - 11.8. Im hearing I need an 800cca battery to get the juice. Also, I've been asking around and no one seems to understand how everything electronic works but the engine won't start. I'm hearing it's the anti theft system but I've unlocked the doors electronically and attempted to do so manually with the key and just sliding the locks. With the "10" fuse out the security light doesn't activate.
Security light blinks then goes off so I don't believe that to be the issue. Still, everything works on the inside but she just won't crank or anything. It's killing me softly. Lol

Battery is on the small side but should certainly start the car anyway
disconnect the battery for awhile to hopefully rest the alarm.
Are you sure the red key switch works right?

cant be the battery. A great test is to turn the lights on, then try start it. If the lights go out..not enough battery juice. If nothing happens to the lights, it aint the battery.
Yes. Nothing. I just got her 3 days ago and she started and drove 200 miles home like a dream. The next morning I go to start her up and nothing happens. It's either this security system or something something else. The security light blinks when the doors are open. goes solid when I lock an open door. Stays on for 3 secs when I shut a locked door. Blinks when I use a key to unlock said door and still nothing.
Well...We can all sit around and GUESS...OR, you could

Is this an auto or standard, there is a clutch start switch or neutral safety switch. If you have power on the purple wire on the starter when you try to start they plus the starter interrupt relay are ok and the solenoid should operate..
