The c beam I took out of my car looks bent. This is off a zf6 car. The other beam is longer and I believe it's from an auto. Can you see the bends in the zf6 beam? Is it normal? There appears to be machine marks but the bends look weird. Hopefully these pics work.
The beam is NOT straight. I measured a D36 beam one time a very long while ago and I believe there was an arch maybe something 3/4"+ at the widest point of the arch. Something near mid-length of the beam. I don't have one close but it should be very easy I'd think to compare side by side if you have both.
Drop a pair of the rear beam bolts through the front bores to establish a fixed location and confirm from that.
The deformity you "think" is present on the D44 is also just the way it should be. The D36 beam does NOT have the depressions at mid-length.
If you are talking about the X beams, they are rounded to fit the drive shaft.
Yes, the X beams. The reason I got nervous is because the other C beam from an auto doesn't have them. Next time I'm under the car I will look at the clearance.
