If you drove Scorps car, it DOGS under 3grand, like someone has their hand over the intake. It hits 3500 and SNAPS like a switch was flipped, very weird.

Well you keep telling the car it is retarded, that can't be helping it's confidence.

Mine did this at first too. I bumped the initial timing up a few degrees and popped in a PROM w/ the ARAP .bin on it, it's better. This is all the "tuning" I have managed to do so far.

ARAP is no good for me. My '165 ECM is a $32b definition. I also would lose 4+3 functionality.
Although copying the timing table as a starting point might be good. ;)

There ya go. I wish I had some more info for you. I hope to hookup the Moates software tomorrow and see what the computer is doing. And burn a few PROM's. :)
I'm not even going to take a guess at your numbers tomorrow. All I know is, with the components you have, that sucker will kick some serious butt once you have it dialed in! :yesnod: Good luck!
Over or under 3500 RPM?:D Hope you get your tuning sorted tomorrow.
Over definitely over!!! :D Hell under 3500 now is like driving a geo.
That shouldn't be.... mine is incredibly torquey, even off idle at 1/4 throttle.
Timing is very, very important and will effect you down their.... also, strangely enough, if my TPS sensor is set weird it appears to lose low end torque..... may just be me though.
I'll guess based upon precise calculations (I really have no clue)....
294 rwhp @ 5400 rpm
348 ftlbs @ 3900 rpm
But the good news, you probably have another 20, 30 and even possibly 40 rwhp hidden in their somewhere.

Re: (scorp508)
Hehe, I wanna know what the hp is gonna be AFTER your baseline run when you tune it. :)
12.8 unsorted is.
Me too. :D
Keep in mind that thta 12.89 run was spinning the tires a good first 100' or so with a lousy 2.1 60'.
So that 12.8 is on street tires?
You aren't helping me here. I keep telling myself I should save my $ and go all out later on but with the numbers you are getting it would be worth putting that off for a while and doing what you have done to my motor and just drive it that way until something major goes. Your mods alone would most likely put me in a position to beat MOST of the other Vette guys around here. (Insert evil smiley here).
You gotta stop posting this stuff - I can only resist so much... :)
BLEH! :bs DO NOT disconnect the knock sensor! Find another way to get that car runnin' right.
Why do I say this?
Because I've got a forged 383 that's got a combination of real and false knock. The real knock is caused by having the promm'd timing set too far advanced. IIRC Scorp's still got the stock pistons in the block. IF he gets ANY detonation without the KS to retard the timing then he'll be a lunchin' on pistons fer sure!
scorp i've been outta hotrods for about 25 years now , but bought my 90 vert last year with 54k on it in great condition for 15k, about average i'd say for cost, Boy your setup looks real good, i'm guessing 320 rwhp, have fun tunning, hope everything works out for ya,

I disagree very much.... most of the 11 second TPI vettes on this forum including myself, Ralph, Wheelsup & Bowtye8 have had our knock sensors disconnected for years. The knock sensors hear the harmonics of the headers and the clatter of the more agressive valvetrain and produce false knock, thus timing retardation that is detrimental to performance. I ran without the knock sensor on my stock shortblock with 180,000+ miles for years, Ralph has the stock shortblock and so does Wheelsup who runs in the 10's without a knock sensor and spinning the motor to over 6000 rpm.
Small block chevys survived 30 years without knock sensors, they're not necessary.
