Default Dyno tomorrow, make a guess.

Ok guys tomorrow the car goes on the dyno for a baseline before it has been tuned.

So far the car has run a 12.89 @ 108.66 in very muggy 90 degree temps. Highest MPH so far has been 109.66. It picks up between 24-27 MPH in the last 1/8th mile depending on the day and how I'm shifting.

Guesses? Personally I'm thinking about 300-310 rwhp, and no clue on the torque.

Before the head porting, my car did 109 mph with 300 rwhp on a cold day at the track. You may be a little more.

For a 3,380lb Vette it looks like about 340-350hp at the crank; with your tranny maybe 290-300rwhp.

Anyway sounds close; good luck and don't foreget the wide band O2 sensor. Maybe he'll tweak your AFPR.

~350 crank

are you tuning the car yourself and are you gonna use this dyno run to tune? or are you gonna send the data off to somebody like Ed Wright and have him tune it?

Well the tuning credit really goes to SloRVette. He will be the brains behind tuning it. I am SO new to modifying ECMs that I am at a severely steep learning curve. Right now I will mainly be watching and trying to learn how to interpret the data and how to correct for it.

Will will use the dyno with wideband O2 in conjunction to other diacom data I have on the car to start tweaking it.

or are you gonna send the data off to somebody like Ed Wright and have him tune it?
No I'm a firm believer in NOT using mail order chips. Kinda like those mail order russian brides. Are you EVER sure of what they will send ya? Sure it might be blonde and voluptious...... all over! You'll get a chip "in the neighborhood" for what you have, but it will never be dead on as every car is different.

348 at the crank and 312 at the wheels. What's the prize for the member with the closest numbers? A chance to drive your car at the strip?

Good luck!

Hey Scorp. This is kind of off topic but what do I need to do a TB Bypass tomorrow? I'd like to do a comparision with and without.
If you have the parts I'll compinsate you tomorrow. :D

Oh and I'm guessing 352 crank! :)

Ack... I don't know off the top of my head. Ask George, he has done his. I haven't done mine.

I'll use a 17% drivetrain loss figure though as always for the 4+3.

I dunno. I ran a 14.1 at 99 mph up here (NHRA corrects to 12.5 at 114 I think), THEN took it to the dyno and was EXTREMELY disappointed in the results. :(

Dyno 1: http://www.millerville.cc/images/dyno2.jpg
Dyno2: http://www.millerville.cc/images/dyno1.jpg

Torque peak is about dead on if you figure 20% for my slushbox (382 RWTQ) but the mill's not pulling past 4500rpm, it should be good for a hp peak at 5200 or so.

The good news is, I get to find where the power is, the baaaad news is: I break 14's and the'll kick me off the track. :reddevil

Thanks for the invite. Actually, I may be in Boston before the end of the year. My dad's sister lives in the area and I may give you a buzz to get a look at your car. I have been trying to collect enough parts to sort of duplicate what you have. So I am very interested in your dyno results. It looks like a very decent combination for a street and occassional strip car. Being the president of our local drag organization, I will see a lot of time at the strip. So naturally, I need a car that I can drive to the strip and occassionally play with on the weekdays. It is a pain to trailer the Vega to the track all of the time.

Me too. :D

Keep in mind that thta 12.89 run was spinning the tires a good first 100' or so with a lousy 2.1 60'.

OK, here's mine. 320 rwhp.....

That is just to soothe my ego. I cannot break into the 12s with street tires.
