Default antennae

Don't know if this is the right forum, but the antennae on my "new" 1992 convertible, on the way home from picking it up. It wasn't going up all the way so I knew it would need relacement. The motor works fine, and when the antennae "broke", the motor pushed the "plastic" toothed section right out. I've replaced similar type masts before, not on a vet. Anyone know how I get the black piece on the top of the antenne out or do I have to take the whole antennae out to feed a new relacement mast in. Also, anyone know where I can get a preplacement mast for a 92.

I did mine a few months ago. I found it easier to remove the antenna assembly entirely as you can get it out of the vert from below with just two screws. Mid america, zip and all the others sell the replacements.

Thanks

I just drove the car home from Louisiana to Massachusetts, drove 16 hours straight yesterday. I've requested all those catalogs, and expect them soon. When you remove the antennae unit, is there any nut on the top of the antennae at the body, or does it just slide through what appears to be a black "grommet".

I'm kinda new, and I just found tons of info posted by different members talking about the issue, I even found user, onedef92, who indicated he posted instructions, I just can't find them. I'm hoping it's because I'm new and not stupid, but time will tell.

Thanks to those who responded. I got a relacement antenna, fed it down in, and everythings just fine. When it broke, the motor "spit" the antenna and nylon toothed "tail" out completely. So it took the new one with no problem.

I bought a new mast for my 94 and it never did work right. ended up getting the whole unit. I wasted the money I spent on the mast. would have been cheaper in the long run and less trouble to do the whole thing right off the bat.
