Default Air pump delete quick question

I just removed my air pump the instructions from mid america say to keep the check valve there and just disconnect the tubes. Do I have to, or can it be removed?

Thanks

The check valves are here to prevent exhaust from backing up. Can you remove it? Sure. But I wouldn't just leave it. I'd go to Home Depot and get some caps to screw on and you are fine. I did that till I changed to TPIS headers with NO AIR system.

If you look closely at my sig picture you will see some bolt heads in my exhaust manifolds. I cut the AIR tubs about an 1/8th" above the manifold and used a 5/16th" tap. I then threaded bolts into these new threads. Problem solved and a lot of extra crap gone. A better way would be to weld the holes shut but I dont have access to a welder.
