good evening forum! In the process of starting a 396ci build on my 90 c4. I am using tpis mini ram. Afr 210 comp ported heads and all forged pistons, rods, crank. auto with 3.54 gears. This is 99.9% street car. I am about ready to pick out a cam and was leaning towards the TPIS ZZx. Using 1.6 rr I believe it is .241 .241 .598 on 112LSA. Anybody with any info or advice on this cam? I've been lucky enough to speak with a few very knowledgeable people that have been very helpful. anybody use this cam? Or recommend something else? Thanks !
If you are building a new engine, I would spin it as high as safely and streetably possible with those heads and intake provided your choice of parts can handle it. You have a lot of potential with those heads and intake so I wouldn't waste it. Spinning high requires the correct cam to make power where you're spinning it to.

I have used this cam on my 406 and it works well. Max power occurred at 6250 and it pulled hard to 6500. It idles rough but tolerable and pulls well from 2500 rpm and up.
I'm going to type in your engine specs into a computer program which will tell me where the cam will make power. It will show me if you are going to lose low end torque with a cam also, which wouldn't be very streetable.
What kind of headers are you using and what is your compression ratio?
