I'd check plug wires and put some dielectric grease on them especially those plugged into the opti . Check ground wire and apply dielectric on coil and icm where it bolts to head and finally the icm for the thermo grease on it. When engine is cold may run ok and gets rough and stall when the icm has gone bad. If you replaced the opti recently with a good quality one, I would think it would be ok unless it was in a lot of moisture, the reason for most failures. Have you been driving it regularly or just getting it out for the summer?
When I replaced the Coil I went through all of those steps. I am going to install the ICM first and go from there. I can only hope for the best. At least the crank pulley will come off easier this time since I had it off last year! OPTI-mism...

I did as well so I am not expecting much of a problem aside from the obvious PITA of putting another OPTI in! I am a big fan of anti-seize. I have had many a neglected car that I brought back to life and there have been some very frustrating(and broken) bolts along the way.
Hey OP,
Old skool here.
Do yourself a favor and ditch the optispark for good. LTCC (LT engine to Coilpack Conversion), Bailey engineering.
Make some plates to mount coilpacks on, mount them into your fuel rail cover post inlets, make some plug wires, and while you're at.... ditch the mechanical water pump for an electric too.
I've been through 3 optisparks while an owner of a 95, and after I went to this setup 5 years ago I've never looked back. Excellent adjustment capability as well for any mods you might pursue.
