I'm replacing my opti and water pump. Are there any differences between the 92 and the other years of lt1 vette water pumps? i've seen it referenced a few places but have no idea what the differences could be.
I did buy the tool off ebay for installing the seal as a side note...

thanks!
OE/GM says yes and there seems to be part numbers for '92 and then '93+. I avoided responding while trying to sort the difference but I'm struggling to document it.
You do have the double sided grooved serpentine belt?
I believe the 93 pump has an extra hose nipple for a heater hose, that the 92 does not have. The 93 pump will work on the 92 if you cap off the the extra outlet or update the heater hoses to the 93 routing.

That is correct I believe. That was working me "very hard" LOL
Some pumps have additional pipes, nipples and plugs to make theirs a "fits all"
GOOGLE images might be the ID'r here
251-537 is the ACD '92 and 251-554 the '93+.
Those are OE/GM 1st line product with a price that matches likely
Yes the 92 pump has only 1 nipple for the hot water heater core feed....
The heater core return hose runs into a T fitting in the upper radiator hose.
You can put a later model pump on a 92 (I did mine) but when you do so:
1. You need to replace the T fitting 2 pc upper raditor hose with the later model 1 pc upper radiator hose with no T fitting and re-route the heater core return hose to the second nipple on the 93 and newer water pump.
OR
2. You can just block off the return nipple on the 93 and newer water pump. Then run the heater core return line back to the upper radiator hose T fitting.
