Default throttle

I have a 1986 , it seem like I can't ease into the throttle ,I have checked the throttle body shaft for wear and find none ,no carbon build up ,I have disconnected the cruise control ,and checked the throttle cable for wear , the pedal moves very smooth with the engine not running ,is this just the nature of the beast or am I missing something ?

The throttle shaft and bores could be worn and you may not notice until there is a load on the shaft. Start the car let it idle and then go under the hood as see how much force is required to open the throttle just a little bit. If it is hard to move more then likely you have a worn shaft or housing.
