ecm codes
I have an 86 vette. Do I have an OBD1 ? Can I get the codes out with out the use of a scan tool and if so how. My check engine light come on intermitinly only on the freeway.

You can get any codes in your ECM by grounding the diagnostic terminal. Maybe someone can post a picture to show you what I am talking about. Basically the process goes like this.
-Use a paperclip to ground the terminal on the ALDL connector
-Turn the key to the ON position but don't start the car
-The check engine light will blink any codes
-It will blink once then pause then blink twice then pause. This is a code 12, meaning they system is in diagnostic mode. It will show this code 3 times.
-After the code 12 they system will show remaining codes stores. After all the codes are shown it will blink a code 12 again three times.
