Default Window nut removal tool?

I am trying to replace the broken guide and am needing to remove the window nut. I can't find a suitable tool at any of the regular places but thought I saw someone post one from harbor freight or northern tool.

Anyone have suggestions for getting the nut off or sourcing the tool needed?

are you talking about a face pin spanner wrench?

if so, I ran into the same problem. i ended up using water pump pliers. i was able to get enough grip to break the nut loose.

That would work. The spacing is specific though.

the do make an adjustable version, but pin diameter is another factor. most likely you would have to get some sizing info and go on-line.

try using water pump pliers....

This worked for me but I'd have rather had the spanner.

Went digging through boxes of old junk I've accumulated over the years and found this.

It worked! FYI, window guide bolt had blue Loctite on it. No wonder it was so stubborn.

My wife calls me a hoarder.....

BTW, M16A1 was in service from 1967 to 1983

interesting - ??? - have you actually used this socket? seems to me, there wouldn't be enough clearance or access, since you have to come in from the opposite or back side. you wouldn't happen to have the snap-on number for the socket - looks like "s98 - something."

Looks like you found a tool that worked, but for people who may look at this thread in the future, this tool from harbor freight works perfectly.

This is the one I saw in another thread but couldn't find that thread again.

Oh well, I got it installed and the window stops where it should again!

damn - 20% off and a free flashlight -

for as much as anyone would use it, 4-bucks works! there's probably at least $4 shipping on that snap-on socket -

I just happened to remember seeing that spanner socket. I don't have one and never used one so I can't say how well it would work (or not).

It's really tight in there. I don't think that and a ratchet would fit.

I made my own. Get a flat piece of steel or aluminum about an 1" or so wide by 6-8 inches long. tap two holes in the end with 10-32 threads with the correct distance between the holes. (forgot the exact dimension). Thread in your 10-32 x 1/4 to 1/2" long bolts. Cheap and easy. Sure that Snap on tool or specifically designed tool would be better but hey when your trying to get the job done some times you need to call upon Macgyver .
